November 2018 More migrant swans and geese and an influx of waders. The surrounding area is playing host to many visitors including some who carry rings adding to our migration information. Find out more with our November Report!
October 2018 October is the month for migrant swans and geese and an influx of waders. Several Mediterranean Gull were also spotted. Find out more with our October Report!
September 2018 The September Report includes significant visible migration counts (many from photographs) of fly-by waders, records of other species and summary photographs (19) along with sightings from around Kintyre by a few contributors. Throughout September, daily surveillance of Northern Gannets crossing 8km overland to the west from Campbeltown Harbour (Clyde waters) to Machrihanish Bay (Atlantic) was sustained. This unique MSBO ongoing project will continue through to at least mid-October. Arran Natural History Society and Argyll Bird Club visited MSBO during the month. Read our September Report!
August 2018 The August Report includes many significant visible migration counts (many from photographs) of fly-by waders, records of other species and summary photographs (22) along with sightings from around Kintyre by an increasing number of contributors. Throughout August, daily surveillance of Northern Gannets crossing 8km overland to the west from Campbeltown Harbour (Clyde waters) to Machrihanish Bay (Atlantic) was sustained. March 2018 The March Report includes records / photographs from MSBO and The Laggan along with some recent sightings / photographs from other parts of Kintyre by a few regular contributors including notable information from Jim Dickson (Argyll Recorder). Also, there was a favourable conclusion for a beleaguered Woodcock that was thought to have been brought indoors by a cat, and an unfavourable conclusion for a Red-breasted Merganser that lost its fish catch to a very determined Great Black-backed Gull illustrated with some great photos . February 2018 Grand News; an update on the Sooty Tern at MSBO seen/photographed by Eddie Maguire on 2nd June 2017. This record has recently been accepted by the British Birds Rarities Committee and is now an additional species to the Argyll list which now stands at 355 (per Jim Dickson / Argyll Recorder and Argyll Bird Cub Website).
